Awakening the sound of silence.

Some photographs have a way of drawing you into a state of relaxation, contemplative thought, or peace. These photos, selected from various other galleries, have that effect. Often what appeals to me in a scene or photographic subject is just that sort of feeling that it evokes in me. It is that feeling that draws me to the subject in the first place. Often, with this type of photo, before I even pull out the camera, I focus on all of the sensory aspects of what lies before me and how it makes me feel. Sometimes I even meditate at the site. Only then do I take the camera out and shoot. I think this process, and these images, come from the same places that my motivation as a yoga teacher comes from, and in the peace I find in my own meditation practice.
