The Keene Barn

For so many years the "Keene Barn" stood as a symbol of an era nearly gone by. The small family farm in the Adirondacks, as in most of the country, was once a proud heritage and a symbol of American resolve and independence. As with so much we revered in society, it is fast disappearing.
This old barn stood as a symbol of that heritage. Sitting right at side of the road on NYS Route 73 at the bottom of what we call "Spruce Hill" it kept a watchful eye on the High Peaks to its south and west.
Each year I'd watch it disintegrate further. First, small holes appeared in the roof, and with each year they'd get bigger. Then she began to sag, and her backbone to bow. I knew I'd lose her, and I dreaded the day...One day this fall as I approached her by car, I saw that she was down. The DEC, fearing she'd come down on someone, cut her knees out from under her and hauled her off. She's gone now, and I miss her.
I photographed that barn many times over the years, and thought I'd present a few of those efforts here for your viewing pleasure.
All are for sale, so though it's gone in its physical form, it can live on in your home, office or business. Some are shot with my big DSLR, and available in larger sizes than those shot with my iPhone. And custom sizes are available as well.
The Keene Barn - the Spirit Lives On.
